Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Sydney Scan Co collects, why we collect it, how we handle it, and the rights you have over it. It covers both the people who enquire with us and the building data we capture on a project.
01Who we are
Sydney Scan Co is a 3D reality-capture studio based in St Peters, Greater Sydney. For any privacy question or request, email us at projects@sydneyscan.co.
02The information we collect
- Enquiry and project information. Your name, business, email, phone number (if you provide it), site address, and the project details you send when you contact us or request a price.
- Capture data. When we scan a site we record detailed spatial data of the building: point clouds, measured models, photographs and hosted 3D twins. This can include incidental images of interiors, contents and, occasionally, people present during the scan.
- Website information. Basic technical data your browser sends, and, once enabled, anonymous analytics about how this site is used.
03How we use it
We use enquiry and project information to quote, schedule, carry out and deliver your work, to invoice, and to keep in touch about your project. We use capture data to produce the deliverables you have engaged us for. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing without your consent.
04Capture data is confidential
A detailed spatial record of a building is sensitive. We treat all capture data as confidential to you. We do not publish, reuse or share it, including as a case study or marketing example, without your written consent. This is also a term of our engagement: see our Terms of Service.
05Who we share it with
We share information only where it is needed to deliver your work, or where the law requires it:
- service providers who help us operate, such as our 3D-twin hosting platform, file storage and email;
- professional advisers and contractors who help us deliver your project;
- authorities, where we are required by law.
We require the providers we use to protect your information.
06Where your data is stored
We store project data and hosted twins with reputable providers. Some of these, including 3D-twin hosting, may store data on servers outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with this policy.
07How long we keep it
We keep project data for as long as we need it to deliver and support your work and to meet our legal and tax obligations, then we securely remove or de-identify it.
08Keeping it secure
We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including access controls and reputable, secured storage. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your building data with the care its sensitivity deserves.
09Your rights
You can ask us to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to make a complaint about how we have handled it. Email projects@sydneyscan.co and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
10Cookies and analytics
This site uses only the minimal cookies needed to function. Once analytics is enabled, we use it to understand site usage in aggregate; it does not identify you personally.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our business or the law changes. The current version is always the one published here, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
